The two new Super Post Panamax quay cranes were formally presented today at AGCT.
AGCT’s ceremony at the terminal brought together numerous business partners, representatives of shipping lines, freight forwarders, rail operators, as well as key stakeholders, including representatives of the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure, regional and local authorities, Customs, and many other stakeholders involved in the Rijeka transport corridor.
The vessel Zhen Hua 25, successfully berthed at Adriatic Gate Container Terminal (AGCT) on Saturday, November 29th at 09:30 am, delivering two new quay cranes that represent a major investment in the modernization and expansion of the terminal’s handling capacity.
The vessel departed from Shanghai on 25 September 2025 and, after covering more than 16,100 nautical miles, arrived in the port of Rijeka.
Over the next four days the cranes have been unloaded and the vessel departed from AGCT on Wednesday, December 3rd. Cranes have since been connected to power and are currently undergoing commissioning and technical testing, with full operational deployment expected by the end of the year.
The cranes were manufactured by ZPMC, the world’s leading producer of container handling equipment. They represent the latest generation of Super Post Panamax quay cranes, specifically engineered to meet AGCT’s operational requirements, including custom load-bearing adjustments. These units are also the first prototypes of this new series.

The quay cranes are part of a broader modernization program. In the coming weeks, the terminal will also receive two new hybrid RTG yard cranes, designed for container handling in the storage areas. Their hybrid drive system enables significant fuel reductions and emission savings, further supporting the terminal’s sustainability goals.
The total value of investment in quay cranes, RTG units and additional terminal equipment amounts to EUR 35 million, reinforcing AGCT’s commitment as concessionaire to continue expanding capacity and strengthening Rijeka and the Adriatic transport corridor as a key gateway to Central and Southeast Europe.
With a symbolic ribbon-cutting, the Director of the Port of Rijeka Authority, Denis Vukorepa, and Emmanuel Papagiannakis, CEO of AGCT, welcomed the new cranes
