Today at around 2 PM container vessel CONTSHIP ECO berthed on our terminal for the first time. Along with Orkun Kalkavan and Reecon Emir, Contship Eco is one of the 3 ships that are part of the regular COSCO service calling Rijeka once a week.

This service has so far linked the Northern Adriatic ports with the Greek port of Piraeus. This route was serviced by two container vessels in a regular weekly rotation (the aforementioned Orkun Kalkavan and Reecon Emir). This service has recently been upgraded in a way that it now directly connects Rijeka with the major ports in Turkey, hence including of another vessel into the service was necessary.

As of today onwards AGCT will every week berth one of the above mentioned three container vessels, with capacities of 600 to 800 TEU.

Route:

Piraeus => Rijeka => Koper => Venecija => Ancona => Piraeus => Thessaloniki => Istanbul Ambarli ( Kumport) => Istanbul Haydarpasa => Yilport Gebze => Izmir => Piraeus

DRAGON MARITIME ADRIA (agent COSCO shipping), director:

"COSCO is China's national shipping company which has been, in a regular weekly feeder service, connecting the hub port of Piraeus with the port of Rijeka continuously since the establishment of feeder services in 2009. Since the start of the service introduction, throughput of COSCO through Rijeka is constantly growing, and the establishment of this new so-called "Butterfly" service called AGT (Adriatic Greece Turkey Service), where Rijeka is the first port of call in the northern Adriatic, the transit time between Turkish ports and the port of Rijeka is extremely short, which we believe will have a positive effect on the increased amounts of entirely new cargo on the Rijeka traffic route..

The first import vessel CONTSHIP ECO has been berthed today, bringing around 200 TEU of cargo, out of which 22 TEU is cargo from the Turkish port of Izmir. Actual transit time from Izmir to Rijeka is only 5 days, which is a very competitive transit time even compared with truck transport, and we hope that this fast, high quality and reliable service will give us an opportunity to secure new quantities of cargo for the port of Rijeka."
