Adriatic Gate Container Terminal j.s.c. (AGCT) has been awarded Entrepreneur of the Year – City of Rijeka as part of the first national edition of Bilanca uspjeha 2025, a recognition of the best entrepreneurs in Croatia.
The awards are based on official FINA data for 2024, applying an advanced AI-driven methodology under the guidance of the University of Rijeka Faculty of Economics, with confirmation by a national expert committee.
The award ceremony took place on 12 September 2025 in the Crystal Hall of Hotel Kvarner in Opatija, where the prize was presented by the Mayor of Rijeka, Iva Rinčić. On behalf of AGCT, the award was accepted by Emmanuel Papagiannakis, CEO of Jadranska Vrata d.d. The event was held under the patronage of Croatian ministries, chambers, and institutions, and in partnership with the Faculty of Economics in Rijeka.
Upon receiving the award on behalf of AGCT, Emmanuel Papagiannakis stated:
“It is an honour to accept the award on behalf of AGCT and thank all our dedicated employees. As we are aware, ports are key drivers of economic success, with typically 80% of a country’s trade handled through ports, which also have a strong multiplier effect – generating at least three jobs for every direct job. We are pleased to contribute to the City of Rijeka. Proudly, AGCT has evolved from primarily serving Croatia and the Balkans to now covering Central Europe via rail. Congratulations to all winners – a strong Croatia for all requires strong businesses.”
