Farewell, Toni

Dear Partners, It is with great sadness that we inform you of the recent passing of Dr. Antonio Pereira Passaro. Passaro was the first CEO of AGCT since ICTSI’s takeover in 2011, in charge of takeover and new organisational setup of the Company. He will be remembered as a man of great vision, leader with remarkable experience, a professional but also a great friend. Toni, you will be missed.
We are very pleased to introduce Mr. Emmanuel Papagiannakis (Manny), new AGCT’s Head of Management Board. Mr. Papagiannakis will be succeeding Mr. Wojciech Szymulewicz, who has been with us from May 2016. Mr. Papagiannakis comes from a role as Chief Commercial Officer of Victoria International Container Terminal, ICTSI’s subsidiary in Melbourne, Australia. In the past two years, since he joined ICTSI, Manny was leading commercial development as Commercial Director, but also covered a broader global commercial role within the ICTSI group. Manny has over 20 years of industry experience with Patrick Terminals and APMT, before joining ICTSI he oversaw APMT’s commercial activities in Asia as Head of Commercial. After several months of successful test runs, as of this week COSCO officially launches regular weekly rail service between Rijeka and Budapest. This rail service adds on to the new COSCO Piraeus – Rijeka Express service, which was also launched earlier this week. First call of the container vessel m/v Andante was on Monday, July 22nd, and already the day after, on Tuesday July 23rd containers discharged from that vessel were loaded on two trains on their way to Hungary. Yesterday, on Thursday 25th those trains were discharged at the container terminal Bilk in Budapest and today they are already on their way to Rijeka, ETA tomorrow. Rijeka July 22nd, 2019 Container vessel Andante berthed today at AGCT on its Maiden voyage within the „Piraeus Rijeka Express (PRS)“, new weekly service launched by COSCO exclusively linking Rijeka and Piraeus. 134m long and 23m wide, container vessel Andante has a maximum capacity of 868 TEU and will be calling Rijeka every Monday, while sailing from Piraeus every Friday. Transit time between two ports is 2.5 days. The service is scheduled to be compatible with COSCO’s rail connections towards Hungary and Serbia which, after successful tests in the past few months, is also launched this week. Last weekend was reserved for Maersk Houston, the latest vessel from the H-class Maersk vessels. This class includes 11 vessels and 9 of them are calling Rijeka for the last two months as a part of 2M service. With a total capacity of 15,282 TEUs, Maersk Houston is the last in the row of H-class vessels and at the same time, the "youngest" container vessel ever arrived to Rijeka, recently completed in the HHI shipyard in South Korea. The vessel is 353 m long and 54 m wide and as a part of H-class, with width of 2,000 TEU, their capacity is larger than the capacity of earlier vessels in 2M service.

For the third year in a row, last Saturday, June 15th at AGCT we've had an eco action of seabed cleaning. This action was organised by our HSSE department in coopearion with Diving club Rijeka. A big thank you to everyone who participated!

May 2019 - New monthly throughput record

West and East view of AGCT Quay with two MSC vessels berthed at the same time last Friday. Right about then we've finished ops on feeder vessel and closed the month with a new monthly throughput record! First time in AGCT history, the highest mothly throughput was reached in May 2019 - 23.953 TEU.

Last weekend, on Saturday May 25th 2019 at 9:58 am we have reached 100 000 TEU in yearly throughput! At that moment we've had two vessels berthed at AGCT – 295 m long cruiser Mein Schiff 6 and 353 m long Maersk Herrera, one of the newly deployed H-class Maersk vessels calling Rijeka within the direct 2M Alliance weekly service to/from Far East. „2M Alliance“ is the vessel-sharing agreement launched in 2014 by Maersk line and MSC on major world trade routes, including the service connecting Adriatic and Far East ports, referred as „AE12“ by Maersk and „Phoenix“ by MSC.
